Since this is something that could easily happen again, I solved this problem at its source just by changing this D:\Folder Icons\Folder_A.
Well, it appears that from time to time the letter labeling the drive suddenly changes (it had changed from D: to F:) so all of the desktop.ini files were referring to the correct icons and locations, but with the D: and not the F. In my original post I forgot to mention that all of this is located in an external hard drive. Well, that's not a problem at all since I have just a small amount of subfolders and I can do them manually.Īlso, I figured out why my old icons got suddenly deleted. It will just put the icons of the folders directly inside folder_0 and not their subfolders. Unfortunately, I cannot make it work with the subfolders, even using the command SetFolderIcons.bat /s "C:\.\.\Desktop\test\folder_0" Now it works like a charm! Thank you again! :))) In short, your script requires to be run as administrator (well that's understandable but I'm not so good with computers so I didn't figure it out at the beginning lol) and it also requires the folder icons folder to be inside folder_0. Note: it will rewrite and replace the desktop.ini file in a folder as long as that folder has a matching icon file with the same name in the folder icons sibling folder.
